Recently, Dobbs Ferry High School’s Legislative Club held four student body elections to determine the new members in the Legislative Branch of the school government from each grade. Students were asked to cast their votes after watching each and every candidate’s campaign video. These videos were screened in every history class, and students voted after the videos.
After tallying the votes, twenty students were newly welcomed or re-elected into the legislative branch of DFHS’ Student Government. These students put in the time and effort to get the positions they now hold: making posters, fliers, and videos to appeal to their classmates. They also tried to demonstrate that they had the skills necessary to serve their school as a part of the Student Government.
The winners from each class are as follows:
From the class of 2025: Kaavya Mishra, Finnegan Carlsten, Alexandra Attwell, Lilianne Williams-Ameen, and Ella Moon
From the class of 2026: Eleanor Walker, Leo Fasman, Mira Romano, Joshua James, and Ryan Brennan
From the class of 2027: Yael Klein, Ashley Wu, Poem Chao, Alice Wu, and Sara Faisal
From the class of 2028: Phoebe Walker, Joshua Thomas, William Dorais, Maxwell Montgomery, and Sonia Chen
Junior Eleanor Walker briefly summarized the role of the branch, saying: “The legislative branch creates and passes bills to Dr. Falino. These bills are often ways and improvements of quality of life for the student body.” Eleanor has been a member of the branch since her freshman year.
School elections and governments have always been, and always will be an impactful part of student life in high school. We are all very excited to see what they will do to improve our high school.
